Privacy & Cookie Policy

This policy explains how the Sammelani Bangla Durgotshab website (www.sammelanibangla.com) handles your information. The site is run by Sammelani Bangla, a volunteer-run, not-for-profit Bengali community association based in Brussels, Belgium. The short version

• We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other websites.
• We use one functional cookie to remember your language. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no consent banner.
• Our visitor statistics are anonymous and cookieless.
• The only personal data you actively give us is what you type into the contact form.

Cookies and local storage

The site uses one cookie:

• NEXT_LOCALE — a functional, strictly necessary cookie set by our own server. It stores only your chosen language (en, bn or fr) so the site opens in that language next time. It lasts about one year and is never shared. Because it is strictly necessary to deliver the language you selected, EU rules do not require a consent request for it.

There are no advertising, marketing or third-party tracking cookies, which is why you do not see a cookie consent banner. The website does not keep any personal data in your browser's local storage.

Visitor statistics

We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) to see roughly how many people visit the site and which pages are popular. This tool sets no cookies and creates no persistent identifier. It does not collect your name, email or precise location. It reports only aggregated figures such as page views, referring site, country, browser and device type. Technical data such as your IP address is processed only momentarily to produce those aggregates and is then discarded.

The contact form

When you use the contact form you send us your name, email address and message. We use this only to reply to you and to organise the festival. Depending on our setup, the message reaches us either directly by email or through the form service Formspree (Formspree Inc.), which processes it only to pass it on to us. We keep contact messages only as long as we need them to deal with your request, then delete them.

Third-party services

• Hosting — Vercel (Vercel Inc.). The site runs on Vercel's infrastructure. Vercel processes technical request data, including your IP address, in server logs to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Some of this processing may take place outside the European Union under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
• Google Fonts. Some fonts load from Google's servers, which transmits your IP address to Google. No cookie is set.
• Google Maps. The map on the Plan Your Visit page does not load until you click "Load map". Once you do, Google may set its own cookies and receive data about your visit under Google's own privacy policy.
• Outbound and share links. Links to Facebook, YouTube and the share buttons only contact those services when you click them. We do not embed their trackers in our pages.

What we do not do

No user accounts, no newsletter, no online payments, no advertising, no profiling, no automated decision-making, and no sale or sharing of your personal data for marketing.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, object to processing, or receive your data in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email sammelanibrussels@gmail.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian supervisory authority, the Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit), Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels — dataprotectionauthority.be.

Children

This is a general-audience festival website and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date shown above is when it last changed.
